Peculiar, no? Right now both are in bloom; the irises are a dark, almost black purple and the onions are light purple and they look very sweet together. The onions have spread throughout the stepping stones in front of the shed, and it's impossible to get into the shed without stepping all over the onions. They've been growing since the very first day of warmish weather, and they'll stay around until it snows.
