Bisou's Bastille Birthday

Happy first birthday, Beez, Bisou, Bisoulette, Bisoulou (a.k.a. The Red Baroness).

We are grateful to Denzil, your papa, who gave you muscle and speed, and to Fling, your mamma, who gave you pizazz. And to Alix, who gave you the best start in life a puppy could have.

Tonight we will burn a milkbone to honor Sopdet, the Goddess of Sirius, the Dog Star, who sent you to us.

  2. OH! She matches the cradle. And the dome head and the eyes and the silky fur...oh, I understand why my mother loved spaniels. And what a great name the mother has, Fling! Thanks for the photo!

  5. Oh dear - if I show that adorable photo to Luna and the others, they will ask why I haven't dragged out the cradle stored in the workshop so they too can have a "royal" bed. Of course, at this house, five of them would probably try to get in it at the same time. What kind of dog is that? people ask. I tell them Special Spoiled Spaniels. Indeed.

  8. Laurie, I can never figure out why she looks so much more dignified in pictures than she is in real life.

  9. She is so adorable. You'll be quite challenged to find new pictures as charming. I can't wait to meet her and her exhuberance.

  11. I would be completely rejected if she didn't. I expect it to take several hours before she "calms" down.

  12. mrb, gone are the days when my dogs (not THESE dogs) would remain on down-stays for entire dinner parties. Now our guests are mobbed at the door, while I issue ineffectual commands.
